"Out of the frying pan, but at least the fire's on our side," Luc quips as he runs towards the camp with the others. However, his sprint over land is short-lived, as he quickly takes to the skies on leathery wings.

This was terrain the bat could definitely work with. The open, flat fields mean he can easily keep an eye on everyone--or rather, an ear fine-tuned for echolocation--while safely avoiding the brunt of the skirmish below. Furthermore, he had plenty of water to work with, even if it was frozen.

Although wielding a weathered shortbow, he knows better than to fire it into melee; he was an okay shot at best, and didn't need to risk skewering the same allies he's trying to keep alive. No, instead he'd utilize the environment to his advantage. Luc crafts dense blocks of snow that he slams into enemy ankles, aiming to trip them where they stand. More snow finds itself flying off the ground and into the assassin's faces, aiming to cover their eyes and obscure their sight as they try to slash away at his allies.

And most importantly, wounds inflicted on friends won't stay open for long; if Luc sees anything worse than a scratch, he takes water melted by Valska's fire and snakes it over their injuries, knitting opened flesh back closed. The cold might sting a bit, but it's better than bleeding out, and Luc has the sense to extract the water from their clothing after the fact.

Despite all the fancy weaponry and tricks she's been practicing the last few days, when it came to a actual battle Marceline feel back on her one tried and true method. Blood whips, blood whips for everyone .

See, whips normally are a difficult weapon to cause any lasting damage with. Most whips don't have the ability to be prehensile controlled. Or have one side suddenly become as sharp as a blade. Most whips aren't blood.

The tendrils target legs first and weapons first, before moving to slash away at throats or tear at tendons. Anyone that moves within five feet of Marcy suddenly faces down a bloody twinblade, but once they are dispatched the liquid flows out like a river and the whips begin again.

Luc does an excellent job topping his foes, which allows brutal AoOs from the Tigerfolk in particular. However, a knife embeds itself In his shoulder before he can react, though he manages to down his attack soon after.

Marcy does similar at first, and manages to artfully dodge one assailant while cutting him asunder with her blade. Then she bungles a whip attack while also painting a target on her head from her would be victim. He attack leaves her wide open, and the assassin rushes at her at astonishing speed and plants it's knife into her chest.

"Shit!" Marcy screams, and let's out a cry of pain as the knife digs at her. ((26))

Her assailant ffectively flat footed in that moment, she pierces him/her/it through the chest and throws it off her, where it is summarily cloven in half by Kai on its way to the ground. Marcy manages to stay on her feet but Kai takes up a defensive stance beside her.

"Luc! I need the good touch!" Marcy yells out to her batfolk friend, and starts fighting defensively. She mainly focuses on taking down anyone who moves near her, instead of her early aggressive game plan and she tries moving her position closer to Luc.

Having heard the scream, Marcy finds that Luc is already above her by the time she calls out for the flying bat. Snaking a mass of now-melted snow into his hand, Luc lands next to Marcy, reaching for the knife embedded in her chest.
"This ah- is gonna sting a bit," he quickly warns. Not giving her a chance to respond, he yanks the knife out of her chest, then promptly shoves the ball of water over the wound.

Luc works on healing her, but it takes a good 20 seconds to patch it up well enough. Aurora uses the snow to form a makeshift defensive wall for them.

The assassin turn to dust as they did in the tavern, but some of the fallen Tigerfolk have begun to rise already as zombies.

As if on command, a giant gout of fire erupts from the battlefield and immolated a number of assassins. "They're raising faster!" Valska shouts

"Burn the bodies when they fall!" Marcy shouts, and starts cursing at herself for not packing anyways to call fire. She just had to roll with blood as her weapon of choice. Healed up, she starts fighting aggressively again.

"No problem, just- try not to get stabbed again, alright?" Luc suggests to Marcy before they part ways, with the bat taking to the skies. Seeing the rising increase of zombies and hearing Marcy's suggestion, he turns his attention briefly to the firebound shaman.

Random fighting is getting us nowhere. This is just a chaotic mosh pit, and why the fuck are these guys here? Leader, they have always had a leader. Where is he...

Marcy tries to move to the highest vantage point she can, eyes scanning the battle for the assassins commander.

Alas, Marcy has no particular luck finding an assassin that particularly stands out.
Valska makes some effort to cremate her fallen comrades before they rise again. Troy still hangs at the edge of the battlefield casting his ward.

Interestingly, with the exception of the one attack against Marcy, they don't seem particularly intent on killing anyone but the Tigerfolk. With their power and numbers they might have been able to take on a normal Tigerfolk clan, but with the Brilliant Spectre's crew and Valska's firepower it becomes clear they can't truly win.

Luc, on the other hand, manages to spot someone - someone invisible, with the aid of his sonic vision. He can't make out any details I. The din of battle, but it seems to be observing from the sidelines - not quite on the opposite side from where the crew came from, but off to the right.

Well, this was an unpleasant situation. Whoever that is, they aren't likely to be friendly, and Luc was far from an expert duelist. If he could smear a bunch of snow on them, the others could help fight, but outright shouting the stranger's position would have the figure running. No, this required some finesse.

Avoiding looking directly at the invisible spectator, Luc feigns fatigue and lands next to Marcy. "Hey, cover me for a minute...!" he requests with a slight pant. In all actuality, all this heavy snow gear was a bit cumbersome for flight. He keeps his bow drawn, ready to take potshots at any enemies not in close range of allies.
"Whoof, just need a breather... heh... you know what this all reminds me of? Those panty spooks. You know, like the one back west?" In all honesty, he didn't remember where that actually happened, but the invisible figure was roughly in that direction.

"Ugh, those guys were assholes. Still, it was funny when we tricked them into being naked in front of the whole town. Next time they should grab a invisibility spell that effects clothing." Marcy can't help but giggle a little, and once more shifts her blood into the twinblade.
"Didn't you douse one of them in snow while I covered the other in blood? Guy must have had nightmares for weeks."

"Something like that. Heh, good times..." As he did in the sky, Luc trips a nearby offending zombie with a chunk of shifting snow. His chuckle with Marcy is short lived, however, and his tone quickly loses a bit of its humor.

"Oh, I'd love to, but it's not Tuesday... Marcy, behind you-" He trips another, taking a step back and giving Marcy the honor of finishing it off. To her inquiry, he simply shrugs.
"Maybe they're really dumb, and thought that knife finished you off and turned you into a zombie. That, or saw you take that knife like a champ and realized 'you know what? Wow. We don't stand a chance against her, we should just leave her alone.'"

Marcy snorts, and spins the bloody twinblade around in her hands like a sawblade. "If only... if only... So, those guys were out west right? Maybe we should head over there sometime, check up on them." She says, and starts carving her way westward.

"I do remember where Markus lives. Heh, glad I snagged his address before sending them on their way, I'm half-tempted to just fly there now. Speaking of, I think that's enough being within tooth-and-nail's reach of these things." With that, he takes to the sky on his wings, where he gradually starts heading towards the figure... though, not directly. Instead he takes an indirect, curved path, sticking fairly close to Marcy and trying to keep most of apparent focus on the entire battle. It's not like he needed to look directly at the invisible figure to hear where he was. If they could just get close enough for Marcy to charge their spectator....

Marcy fights defensively through the combat, following Luc's direction. She fights off a couple combatants, but then a zombie tigerfolk charges her. Luc manages to topple it to the ground before it can get at her.

The zombies don't fight like slow, mindless minions but like crazed madmen with all of the tigerfolk's strength and undead endurance. Marcy cuts it across the face as it tumbles in front of her, but its determination doesn't waver.

Meanwhile, Kalia has taken up guarding Troy as he concentrates on the ward.

Vanessa, for all her skill, lodges her longsword deep into a charging zombie's heart - or, what was left of it. This had little effect, and unaccustomed to fighting undead, she wasn't prepared for it to keep barreling into her. Letting go of the sword, she manages to duck to the side only enough to keep from being pinned under it, but is still caught by its outstretched arm and thrown to the ground.

Shit, that looked painful, and that thing probably wasn't dead yet. As much as they needed to get to their stranger, Luc isn't about to tread over fallen allies for victory. He makes a beeline for the fallen wolven to support her, hoping she didn't break anything.
"Oi, you!" he yells at the beast, condensing and chucking an icicle at its back in hopes of distracting it, even if only for a few seconds.
